Vote Them All Out
This is not the first time the American people have been mad as hell about politicians and their self serving. It may, however, be the first time they do something about it.
On November 4th, some 32 days from now, every single member of the House of Representatives will be up for reelection. One third of the Senators will be.
This is our chance to do something about the mess that is Washington. The question is will we.
I have my doubts. Congress as a whole has a lower approval rating than any other governmental institution, yet polling consistently shows Americans like their own elected representatives. They also think they do a good job.
Does this make any sense?
It does if you understand politicians. They are expert and getting you to like them. It’s what they do.
Just because they convince you they are working for your best interests doesn’t mean they are. The low approval rating of the Congress is evidence that they don’t. The bailout itself is evidence that they don’t. Changing the name of the bailout to a rescue is evidence that they don’t. The very fact that we are even in this position is evidence that they don’t.
Let’s face it. The American people spoke in loud and clear terms that they did not want this bailout of the fat cats. So many people contacted their Representatives that it crashed the email system. So, instead of listening to the will of the people, they used fear to get you to change your mind.
And it worked.
How long are we going to put up with this?
Another factor to consider is the way districts are drawn. Members of Congress have more to fear in their Primaries than they do in the general election because over the years Congressional districts have been constructed to favor the incumbent. The fix is in and it has been for years. This is why nothing changes.
Enough already. Vote them ALL out. Democrat, Republican, Independent, whatever. If they are an incumbent, vote against them. Maybe the new crop will listen for a change.
